Help spread the word – ReStore looking to expand partnerships this year

You don’t have to lift a hammer to help Habitat.  Last year, sales from the Habitat ReStore amounted to nearly 1/3 of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s overall incoming funding.

This year, the ReStore has a lofty goal of hoping to reach $1 million in overall sales (in the calendar year 2015, the ReStore had $825,000 in sales, the largest year yet).

According to Byron Watkins, ReStore Manager for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, reaching $1 million in sales is completely possible, however it will depend entirely on donations and finding additional ReStore partners.  Says Watkins, “We have some amazing volunteers in the ReStore and a great customer base, the real need now is extending our reach and finding more business owners and inventory managers to partner with.”

Products sold at the Habitat ReStore include doors, windows, appliances, lumber, floor covering, plumbing, millwork, roofing, light fixtures, furniture, hardware, cabinets, and more.  Full a detailed list of acceptable and unacceptable donations click HERE.

Says Watkins, “When it comes to overstocks, excess materials, surplus inventory, over-runs, mis-orders, product that may have scratches and dents, etc. the ReStore can be a great option. We’ll even pick it up if it’s a non-residential donation.  The big issue is that not a lot of people know that instead of throwing it away, they could donate it to us for a tax write-off and a good cause.”

If you know a business owner or inventory manager that you would like to connect to the Habitat ReStore, please contact Byron Watkins at (916) 440-1215 ext. 1108 or BWatkins@HabitatGreaterSac.org

About the ReStore: Much  like a “Home Depot/Lowes meets Goodwill”, the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento ReStore is a 55,000 square foot retail outlet which sells new and used donated building supplies and furniture.  Sales from the ReStore go towards covering Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s overhead costs to ensure that financial donations go directly towards building homes.

In addition to helping support Habitat, the ReStore also diverts millions of pounds of recyclable material from the landfill every year.

The Habitat ReStore is completely open to the public from Tuesday-Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-5pm.  Donations always welcome.
