Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento has a saying – “It takes a community to build a community.” Through 34 years of building and repairing homes in Sacramento and Yolo County, Habitat has partnered with thousands of organizations and tens of thousands of volunteers to build and repair more than 200 homes alongside low-income families, seniors and Veterans. In 2019, more partners than ever before joined the Habitat family as more than just financial supporters, but also as in-kind material and labor donors.
2 days, 400+ volunteers, 23 home repairs and 3 community projects. This is just a glimpse into the upcoming hopes and expectations for our 2019 Rock the Block event. Rock the Block, which is our biggest two day blitz-build event, will be taking place on September 6th & 7th and needs lots of helping hands!
In honor of International Women’s Day, meet Amanda! Amanda is a local veteran, single mom, and teacher who Habitat is helping empower through our critical home repairs program.
This November, Habitat will host a first-ever Unity Concert! The evening will include words from Mayor Darrell Steinberg and local faith and community leaders, as well as performances by the Sacramento Gay Men’s Chorus, the Sacramento Children’s Chorus, St. John’s Lutheran Church Choir, and a very special one night only interfaith collaborative chorus of local faith representatives for a night of song to break down barriers and build hope and homes.
