Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento Repairs Local Veteran’s Home and Hope

In honor of International Women’s Day, meet Amanda! Amanda is a local veteran, single mom, and teacher who Habitat is helping empower through our critical home repairs program.

Amanda served in the Army for 6 years, raised her children as a single mother, and has worked as SETA head start teacher for the past decade.

A hard worker and active in the community, Amanda has owned her home for 14 years, but due to her income has been unable to make the needed repairs which include new gutter installation, repairing the cracked windows, dry rot remediation on the exterior siding, and fixing her bathroom where the floor is caving in around the base of the toilet.

Through the support of our sponsor partners and volunteers, we’re able to make those repairs possible and restore her home and hope.  Like all Habitat home repair recipients, Amanda will put in sweat equity hours and pay back an affordable portion of the cost of the repairs at 0% interest.

Be sure to follow Amanda’s project and our other current Habitat projects on our Facebook page.  Interested in helping make more projects like Amanda’s possible?
