DPR Construction steps in to close the funding gap on 2 Habitat homes!

Today DPR Construction pledged to close the entire $25,000 funding gap needed to complete the two final homes of the Habitat Neal Road construction project. The news came as a shock to the Habitat staff who had reached out to DPR in hopes the construction company might consider closing the $10,000 or $15,000 funding gap on one of the homes – never imagining they would take on both.

Rodman Marquez, who spearheads DPR’s community initiative efforts in the Sacramento region along with Megan Valles, said in his email to Habitat confirming the donation, “Habitat for Humanity has been a solid partner in helping us be integral and indispensable in the northern California/Sacramento region.  We are in the position, and are honored, to contribute $25,000 to make this happen!”.

The two homes are the 3rd and 4th homes of the 4-home Habitat development on Neal Road in North Sacramento and will benefit 2 hardworking, low-income families.  The entire sponsorship cost of construction to build both homes is $150,000 ($75,000 per home) .

As with other local Habitat projects DPR has been involved with, DPR plans to contribute both financially and through in-kind volunteer labor working alongside the families to build their homes.

Says Development Director for Habitat, Leah Miller, “My heart is filled with gratitude for their generosity and partnership to help build hope and homes for these two families on Neal Road.  They, along with all our sponsors, are truly helping change lives in an incredible way that will affect not only this generation, but the next and the next as they will continue to dream bigger for their future and for generations to come.”

Habitat’s relationship with DPR Construction began in 2014 when DPR chose to memorialize beloved and longtime DPR employee John Kramer through sponsoring and helping build a home for single Mom Mizan Tsegay with Habitat. Since 2014, DPR has helped partially sponsor 2 Habitat homes, with these next homes on Neal Road being their 3rd and 4th that the team has made possible.

Construction is set to begin on both Neal Road homes in early 2017.
