Supervisor Serna and District 1 donates $10,000 to support Rock the Block!

Rock the Block would not be possible without the donations we receive from amazing supporters. Thanks to Phil Serna, District 1 Supervisor, dreams can now come true for our Rock the Block families in need of repairs.

About the Donation

Supervisor Serna graciously donated $10,000 to our Rock the Block efforts, a huge contribution that we are so thankful for. When asked about his donation Supervisor Serna stated:

“I am pleased to support another effort to improve the South Oak Park/Fruitridge Pocket Community in partnership with Habitat for Humanity. This year’s effort to undertake 23 home repairs and 3 projects at the Fruit Ridge Community Collaborative complements the County’s efforts to continue the focus on the quality of life for the residents, and instill community pride for this deserving neighborhood. We couldn’t do it without partners like Habitat for Humanity.”

(Supervisor Phil Serna with Habitat home repair recipient Della Reed – a senior veteran’s widow who was previously in jeopardy of homelessness due to her home falling apart around her – and Habitat CEO Leah Miller)

This donation is being used along with our other sponsorships to help repair 23 homes in the Fruitridge Pocket Community as well as contribute to 3 community projects that we aim to complete in 2 days, September 6th & 7th. If you are interested in partnering with Habitat, Supervisor Serna, and our incredible community partners for this impact building event consider joining us as a volunteer for one or both days of this 48 hour neighborhood revitalization blitz event! There is still time to sign up!
