Statewide Restoration helps Habitat rehab a fire-damaged former illegal grow house into a safe, energy-efficient home for a low-income family

Statewide Restoration, a home restoration and repair company is providing more than $340,000 in-kind labor and material donation to remove this neighborhood blight and make homeownership possible for a local family.

On Monday, March 21st, Statewide Restoration team members began demolition of the roof and interior of a home that has been a blight for the Andros Way block in South Sacramento for too long. The former illegal cannabis grow house caught fire and was donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento directly from the property owner through the City of Sacramento’s “Justice for our Neighbors Program.”, but due to the damages to the home, the labor required to rehab the home and blight on the neighborhood was substantial.

Thankfully for Habitat, Statewide Restoration and CEO Gary Liardon stepped up to the task, assuming the full management and rehabilitation of the blighted home free of cost to Habitat, amounting to what will be, when the home is completely rehabbed, a total labor and material donation from Statewide Restoration of over $340,000 in in-kind value.

The home’s interior has now been torn down to studs and framing, and it will soon be rebuilt by Statewide Restoration into an all-electric, EV ready Habitat homeownership opportunity for a qualified low-income family, through Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s homeownership program.

“Statewide is committed to giving back and helping our community through any disaster,” said Statewide Restoration CEO Gary Liardon. “Partnering with Habitat for Humanity allows us to put our construction expertise to use, while at the same time serving a local family and neighborhood. Statewide could not be more honored to take part in this memorable opportunity. Wherever we operate, whether it’s here in Sacramento or in San Jose, Portland, Seattle or Denver, our obligation is to the community.”

Progress on this project will continue over the next several months and is expected to be complete before the end of the year. You can follow photos of the progress on Facebook and Instagram by using the hashtag #AndrosRehab
