Daughter: Jada, age 11

Antonina’s journey as a hard-working single mother is marked by strength, perseverance, and an unrelenting love for her daughter, Jada. Living in a small, 300-square-foot converted garage—the family faces the daily challenge of feeling at home in a space that offers little comfort or functionality. With no separate bedroom, the mother and daughter share a couch that transforms into a queen-sized bed each night. During the day, the limited space barely accommodates their needs, let alone allows for personal growth or relaxation.
Balancing her professional life with the demands of motherhood, Antonina works from home part-time. The lack of space and amenities makes it diicult to balance focusing on her career while also providing an environment conducive to Jada’s development. Despite these obstacles, Antonina remains determined to build a better future for her family.
A Habitat for Humanity home will be life-changing for Antonina and Jada. It will provide the stability and comfort they currently lack, offering Jada the chance to have her own room where she can explore her creativity through painting and crafting. For Antonina, homeownership will mean financial stability, freeing her from the constant pressure of rising rent and allowing her to focus on advancing her career. It will also open the door to a fuller social life, enabling her to host friends and family in a welcoming space.
Antonina’s story is one of courage and hope. With the support of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, she dreams of building financial stability and a home where she and Jada can thrive—a place filled with love, laughter, and endless possibilities.
