Rudy has spent the past four years working in landscaping, putting in long hours to support his family. His commitment reflects a shared goal between him and Florentina—to create a home where their family can feel secure and supported.
Before partnering with Habitat for Humanity, the family lived in a small one-bedroom apartment that presented several challenges. Rudy and Florentina slept in the living room so Taylor could have the bedroom, and limited space meant their belongings often filled shared areas of the home.
The apartment also had ongoing maintenance issues, along with health concerns like mold, which made it difficult to maintain a comfortable living environment. Despite these challenges, the family remained hopeful and focused on building something better.
Now, their Habitat home provides the space and stability they have long worked toward. With room to organize, live comfortably, and grow together, the family is able to enjoy a healthier and more supportive environment. Florentina is excited to plant fruit trees in their backyard, and she is already planning the first family gathering that will take place there. After years of being unable to invite friends and family for holidays or to celebrate special occasions, she can’t wait to host their loved ones in their forever home.
Rudy and Florentina firmly believe that this home will change everything. For them, homeownership represents a new chapter—one that centers joy, togetherness, and gratitude for the brighter future they built together.
