Children: Iyana, Chase, and Tajz

With unwavering dedication, Toni works each day to create opportunities for her children—Iyana, Chase, and Tajz. As a Regional Transit employee for the past six years, she remains committed to supporting her family while helping her children prepare for their futures.
Toni understands the importance of stability during pivotal stages of life. As her children grow into adulthood, she focuses on providing the support and environment they need to succeed academically and personally.
Before partnering with Habitat for Humanity, the family lived in an apartment that had become increasingly crowded over time. Toni adapted the space as best she could, even converting the dining area into a second living space so her youngest son could have room to relax and play. She and her youngest son shared a bedroom, highlighting the limitations of the home.
To stay motivated through the long, grueling days of providing for her family while building their home, Toni embraced a daily reminder to herself: “Every nail, every wall, and every hour spent on this home will represent hope, perseverance, and a fresh start for my family.”
Today, their Habitat home offers a fresh start and more. Toni now has the stability and sense of safety that she pursued for so long. Each of her children has room to grow, focus on their goals, and move confidently into the next stages of their lives.
For Toni, homeownership represents a foundation for the future, where her family can continue growing, achieving, and building a life filled with possibility and purpose. More than anything, she hopes that her children take from this journey the same lesson she has – “that no matter how hard life gets, there is always a way forward.”
