Theme/Event Builds:
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento also hosts a variety of “theme builds” throughout the year which are great group volunteer opportunities!
In celebration of Women’s History Month, Habitat’s annual Women Build empowers women from various demographics and industry to come together in support of affordable housing in the Greater Sacramento Region. Teams represent different partner organizations like NAWIC (the National Association of Women in Construction) and the CCSWG (Commission on the Status of Women and Girls), our presenting sponsor for the past two years! Rock the Block is our bi-annual 2-day community clean up and neighborhood revitalization event! Each year, we engage hundreds of volunteers who work on between 15-20 home repair and community investment projects! The next Rock the Block takes place this October 13th & 14th in the Bryte/Broderick Community of West Sacramento.
Build for Unity is our annual interfaith fundraising event held during World Interfaith Harmony Week. Build for Unity was piloted at our affiliate in 2016 to unify our communities around our similarities during a period of heightened divisiveness, and to demonstrate what we can achieve as a society when we put our differences aside and work towards a common goal. Not in a position to make a donation, but still interested in helping out? Contact us to coordinate a Group ReStore Volunteer Day! The ReStore is our on-site retail operation, where we sell new and gently used home furnishing and improvement items at steeply discounted rates. ReStore volunteer groups assist staff with tasks including but not limited to donation receiving, assembly, sales floor organization, and greeting customers. Teams of 10-20 can be accommodated with opportunities throughout the week. Scheduling is subject to date availability.
