Individual Volunteer Opportunities

At Habitat, we realize that volunteering isn’t a “one size fits all” experience. Everyone has different attributes, interests, and skillsets, which inspired us to expand our volunteer opportunities! There’s a little something for everyone, no experience required!

Construction Volunteer

Working as a construction volunteer is a great option if you’d like to meet and network with other community members while learning new practical skills in a lowpressure setting. Tasks can include activities like landscaping, fence building, siding and painting. Seven-hour shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday based on need.

ReStore Volunteer

If you have retail experience or enjoy providing customer service, the ReStore could provide a great volunteer opportunity! At the ReStore, you’d support the staff with tasks like donation receiving, assembly, sales floor organization, and greeting customers! Six-hour shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday.

Administrative Volunteer

Calling all keyboard warriors to the front! Come support Habitat’s office staff with clerical and administrative tasks like answering phones, data entry and organization, as well as providing volunteer support and peer training. If you have office experience or would like to learn we’d love to have you!

Habitat Ambassador

If you enjoy switching up your environment and engaging with and educating others, volunteering as a Habitat Ambassador may suit your work style! Habitat Ambassadors play a key role in raising awareness around our programs and inspiring participation and increasing our reach in the Greater Sacramento and Yolo regions.

For more information, please contact Sherelle at swatkins@habitatgreatersac.org.

Crew Leader

The Crew Leader volunteer opportunity could be a great option for someone with prior contracting work experience who enjoys sharing their expertise and mentoring others. Prospective Crew Leaders must commit to volunteering once a month or 12 times a year. The primary role of the Crew Leader is to assist Habitat Site Supervisors with site management by maintaining a safe and efficient work environment and assuring the quality and completion of tasks. Sevenhour shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday.

For more information, please contact Sherelle at swatkins@habitatgreatersac.org.

Electrical Crew Volunteer

This volunteer opportunity requires the greatest time commitment and could be a great opportunity for those with time to spare! Our Electrical Crew instructor, Cliff Popejoy, has been training and working alongside the Electrical Crew for decades. Through this program, members gain hands on training from certified electricians in an in-demand trade that could translate into future employment. However, this is not a vocational training program.

Stay tuned for recruitment and training updates early 2025!

Please note, we do not currently schedule “Back to Work” volunteers.
