Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Join Us in Building Homes, Communities, and Hope!

At Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento, we bring together people like you to build and repair homes, strengthen communities, and create lasting hope. Every home we build, every life we touch is thanks to the dedication of our volunteers, ReStore proceeds, and generous local donations. All you need to start is a willingness to help and time to dedicate to families in need!

Getting Started

Step 1: Create a VolunteerHub account by clicking HERE

All individual volunteers must create a volunteer account through VolunteerHub. Please note that you must be at least 16 years old to volunteer on a job site.  Follow the link and click “create account” (or “sign-in” if a profile has already been created).

Step 2: Attend a Volunteer Orientation/HabitTour

Once you’ve made a profile, you will need to register for a HabiTour. HabiTours are one hour volunteer orientations where we go more in-depth about the Habitat mission and volunteer opportunities.  You can register for an upcoming Orientation/HabiTour through your VolunteerHub login.

Step 3: Sign-up for a volunteer shift

After you attend a HabiTour, you can begin signing up volunteer shifts. Just log into your volunteer profile to see a list of available volunteer days.

Individual Volunteer Opportunities

Construction Volunteer

If you enjoy hands-on projects and want to network with others while learning new skills, our construction volunteer roles are a great fit. You’ll help with tasks like landscaping, fence building, window placement, painting, and more! Shifts are available Tuesday-Saturday, no prior experience required. We provide all training, tools, and safety gear, and welcome industry professionals, too.

Our Home Repair Program partners with communities for home repair and beautification projects that make a big difference. Stay tuned for upcoming opportunities!

ReStore Volunteer

Our ReStore sells new and used building materials to the public, funding over $1 million of our work annually and diverting 1 million pounds of goods from local landfills. Volunteers assist with organizing, pricing, stocking, cleaning, and event prep. Whether you’re passionate about sustainability or just enjoy helping behind the scenes, ReStore has a place for you!

Administrative Volunteer

Calling all keyboard warriors to the front! Come support Habitat’s office staff with clerical and administrative tasks like answering phones, data entry and organization, as well as providing volunteer support and peer training. If you have office experience or would like to learn we’d love to have you!

Habitat Ambassador

If you enjoy switching up your environment and engaging with and educating others, volunteering as a Habitat Ambassador may suit your work style! Habitat Ambassadors play a key role in raising awareness around our programs, inspiring participation, and increasing our reach in the Greater Sacramento and Yolo regions.

Special Events Volunteer

If you enjoy dynamic experiences and love working behind the scenes to bring meaningful events to life, volunteering as a Special Event Volunteer could be a perfect fit for you! Special Event Volunteers are essential to the success of Habitat events, assisting with event setup, staffing, and creating a welcoming and engaging environment. Your support helps us raise awareness, inspire action, and build stronger communities in the Greater Sacramento and Yolo regions.

Electrical Crew

Apply your skills to support electrical needs on a construction site. A commitment of 12 volunteer days per year is required. Specialized training provided!

CORE Volunteer

Master your technical skills and lead less experienced volunteers on the jobsite. Core Volunteers start as Individual Construction Volunteers and, with demonstrated skill and dedication, receive training for this leadership role. A commitment of 12 volunteer days per year is required, plus a background check.
