Due to the current conditions in Nicaragua, we will be postponing our Global Village Trips to Nicaragua for the time being. Our local Sacramento affiliate is continuing to tithe to Habitat for Humanity Nicaragua and support their ongoing building efforts through our financial support. We ask that you please send our thoughts and prayers to the team in Nicaragua during this challenging time for the country.
Please Note: Volunteers provide both the labor and the funding for the project.

History of the Sacramento-Nicaragua Partnership
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is a tithe partner to Hábitat para la Humanidad Nicaragua, the second poorest country in Latin America. Our tithe partnership began over 25 years ago and has been growing rapidly in the past few years as we here locally attempt to make an even bigger difference in Sacramento and in the world.
Right now, almost 80% of the Nicaraguan population lives on less than $2 a day with living conditions that are unimaginable to most of us here in the United States. Sacramento Habitat is looking to remedy that situation because we believe that everyone deserves a safe, decent place to call home.
To date, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento has built 1200 housing solutions overseas and tithed over $1.5 million dollars from our unrestricted funds towards helping families in less fortunate countries realize the dream of homeownership.
Sacramento Habitat put together our first Global Village Tour to Nicaragua in March of 2012, sending 12 volunteers on a 9-day journey to build hope and homes for families in Nicaragua. Volunteers provide both the funding and the labor for the project and walk away with a life changing experience.
Since then, we have hosted numerous teams to participate in Global Village Trips to Nicaragua from our local affiliate, including our first ever Global Village Women Build.
