Health Net Federal Services donates $150,000 to sponsor first ever Veteran Home Build Project

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento is excited to announce that Health Net Federal Services, LLC., (HNFS) will be partnering to help build a home for a local Veteran family. The partnership includes a $150,000 donation to cover the costs of construction on the project, as well as hundreds of volunteers from HNFS who will aid in the construction of the home.

“Health Net Federal Services is honored to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento in support of a local veteran here in the city where our company started nearly 30 years ago. Since our inception, we have been committed to serving the healthcare needs of military and veteran families in honor of their service and sacrifice. Transforming the health – and well-being – of those who serve their fellow citizens is the purpose of our company. Through this partnership, our employees are proud to work with Habitat for Humanity volunteers to build the first veteran home in our community,” shared Billy Maynard, President and CEO of Health Net Federal Services.

The sponsorship is the largest financial home sponsorship donation from a single donor in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s 31 year history.

The Veteran Home Build project will be newly constructed, built to the highest level of green building standards, and available for purchase through a 30-year, zero-percent or zero-percent equivalent mortgage for a Veteran partner family that qualifies under the guidelines of the Habitat home ownership program.

Interested applicants can find out more about this opportunity and how to apply on Habitat’s website at .

Veteran program applicants will go through a selection process, including a detailed financial review and an in-home visit. To qualify for the program, applicants must meet four main criteria including being a Veteran or caring for a Veteran dependent, having a need for adequate shelter, being willing to partner with Habitat, and having the ability to pay (applicants must fall between 30%-80% of the area median income to qualify.)

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento has completed 139 homes in Sacramento and Yolo County in its 31 year history and also has a program devoted to repairs for low-income existing homeowners and Veterans who are struggling to stay in their homes.

This build will be Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s first ever Veteran home build from the ground up.
