Whether you’ve shopped and donated to the Habitat ReStore for years or are just now hearing about it for the first time, did you know the ReStore raises about $1.2 million annually? The Habitat ReStore is a home improvement retail outlet, where we sell new and gently used donated building materials and furniture at a discount – and all sales support the construction and repair of homes in our community! Now, there’s a new face on the ReStore team – meet Andrea Weathington.
What is your role in the Habitat ReStore, and what brought you to the role?
“As the new ReStore Development Officer, I bring donors and customers alike to the ReStore! I have been pursuing career aspirations within the non-profit realm for quite some time, so when I saw the opportunity was available, I had to jump on it. The past 5 years of my professional life have been focused on business development and marketing in the for-profit sector, providing me some foundational knowledge to be able to hit the ground running. For me, the role and the organization was a match made in heaven for my skillset and personal passion!”
What is your background?
“In my early 20s, I was the Assistant Manager for a Burger King in Roseville, until I decided fast food wasn’t for me. By my mid-20s, I landed in a call-center starting as a telemarketer, and left the industry 1.5 years later as a Marketing Team Manager. I took a break from the workforce to attend school (later than most, but better late than never!), and began working as a business development associate for a software consulting firm. After almost two years there, I switched industries to environmental consulting, but still doing marketing and business development.”
What part of the role are you most excited about?
“Getting out into the community and engaging with donors and customers!”
What is one thing that might surprise people about you?
“I love karaoke. I may not be the next American Idol, but I’m told I can carry a tune!”
When you’re not in the office, where can we find you?
“Disneyland! (No, seriously – I visit at LEAST 8 times per year)”
When she’s not gallivanting at the Happiest Place on Earth, you may spot Andrea around town, meeting with the people and businesses whose donations and support are the lifeblood of the ReStore. Be sure to stop in to say hello and check out the ever-changing ReStore inventory – there’s something for everyone in the Habitat ReStore, from home-improvers to D-I-Yers alike.
