About Rock the Block West Sacramento

Rock the Block is an inspiring two-day Habitat for Humanity impact event that brings together hundreds of volunteers, sponsors, and local residents to make a lasting difference. During these two days, we work side-by-side to complete critical home repairs, landscape beautifications, and community revitalization projects that improve the quality of life in West Sacramento.

As part of Habitat’s Home Preservation and Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative, Rock the Block serves as a vital investment in our neighborhoods. We focus on supporting veteran, senior, and disabled homeowners—especially those in need of help to preserve their homes and prevent displacement.

Our goal is to ensure stability for residents in affordable, owner-occupied homes by addressing deferred maintenance, essential repairs, energy efficiency upgrades, and improvements for health, safety, and cost savings. These efforts directly reduce the risk of displacement for long-time residents of neighborhoods in West Sacramento.

In addition to home repairs, we work closely with local nonprofit organizations that serve the community year-round, creating sustainable partnerships that extend beyond this event.

By leveraging financial support and thousands of volunteer hours, Habitat for Humanity transforms these contributions into meaningful community investments across Sacramento and Yolo Counties. Together, we’re building stronger, more resilient communities where everyone has a place to call home.

We invite you to be part of this transformative event and make a lasting impact in West Sacramento!

Rock the Block West Sacramento Impact!

In October 2025, Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento brought together hundreds of volunteers, community partners, and residents for our 4th annual Rock the Block initiative in West Sacramento. Over the course of two transformative days, 342 volunteers completed 11 home repairs and 3 community investment projects, preserving affordable homeownership in the community and strengthening pride of place for long-time residents.

Thanks to our steadfast partners- Wells Fargo, the City of West Sacramento, and 20 generous sponsors- Habitat invested more than $200,000 in West Sacramento this year to help residents age safely in place and preserve the community’s affordable housing stock.

Together, we revitalized homes through painting, fencing, roofing, landscaping, dry rot repair, HVAC work, and debris removal (with support from GreenWaste), while enhancing beloved community spaces including Holy Cross Parish, Shores of Hope, and the Alyce Norman Softball Field.

Since 2022, Habitat has invested more than $800,000 in West Sacramento, completing nearly 50 home repairs, over 25 community projects, and mobilizing more than 12,000 volunteer hours.
