Habitat Greater Sacramento ReStore finishes Record-Breaking Year

The Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento ReStore closed the 2015-2016 fiscal year yesterday with a record breaking $880,000 in sales to support Habitat and an estimated 800,000+ pounds of diverted materials from the local landfill!

Much like a “Home Depot or Lowes meets Goodwill”, the Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento ReStore is the official Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento retail outlet which sells new and used donated building supplies and furniture.

The first ReStore was founded in 1991 in Canada as a way to generate revenue to support the mission of Habitat.  25 years later, there are currently over 500 ReStores operating around the United States and Canada to help support local Habitat affiliates.  The Sacramento ReStore was founded in the late 1990’s and helps support the overhead and fundraising costs for Habitat Greater Sacramento.

With a team of 7 to manage the 55,000 square foot retail ReStore, Manager Byron Watkins is extremely proud of what the ReStore accomplished this year.

Says Byron, “Everything we do in the ReStore is for the families.  When we make a sale, we know that sale is helping to go towards getting a family in need of housing into a home in our community – and that’s why we work so hard.  We could never do what we do without the help of our amazing ReStore donors, volunteers, and customers!”

When asked what the ReStore’s goals are for the coming year and how they’re going to get there, Byron says, “1 million!  But we’re going to need a lot more donations!”

The Habitat Greater Sacramento ReStore is open Tuesday-Friday from 9am-6pm and Saturday from 10am-5pm.  The ReStore is always looking for donations of materials.  Click HERE for a list of acceptable and unacceptable donations.
