This week, volunteers from Wells Fargo joined together to help partially sponsor a Habitat home in Del Paso Heights and raise the first set of walls on it for single mom Rozonna Robinson.
The future 4-bedroom, 2-bath home on Fairfield Street was made possible through the financial support of Intel, Wells Fargo, Blue Shield of California, Travelers, Big Day of Giving donations, the NKBA California Capitol Chapter, and CFC donations. The property itself was donated by a generous local family.
Rozonna Robinson, the future beneficiary of the home along with her 2 children and grandson, could not be more excited about the walls finally being raised.
Says Rozonna, “Owning a home has always been on my bucket list, but I never thought it would happen. I always wanted to be a homeowner, but before Habitat I thought there was no way I’d be able to be a homeowner as a single mother.”
Rozonna works full-time as a bus driver and has been coming to the jobsite between shifts to put in her 500 hours of sweat equity. She, her daughter T’Keyah who suffers from lupas, her grandson, and her 5-year old currently live in a 2-bedroom apartment.
“When I started the program,” says Rozonna, “I thought it was just homeowners building their homes. Then I realized it was the volunteers, the donors, the sponsors – it was eye opening. It’s a lot of people out there helping build these homes for others. That’s a blessing!”
Construction is expected to continue through October. To see photos from the wall raising, visit our Facebook page HERE.
