At last night’s Kings game, with the help of our partner Health Net Federal Services, we announced the recipient of our 2018 Veteran Build Project.

The Wirth family attended last night’s game under the ruse that Habitat and Health Net Federal Services had free tickets and it would be a good opportunity to meet the sponsor who had made this opportunity possible while the Habitat Board deliberated on which family would be the recipient of the first ever Habitat Veteran Build.  The Wirth’s believed they would find out the decision about the HNFS sponsored Veteran Build via a phone call tomorrow, on Veteran’s Day.

“Tonight was the most incredible night of our lives!” said Emily. “We truly feel so honored and grateful that we were given this opportunity! If there is one thing I can take from this night, it’s that dreams do come true.”

Their home is made possible through a full home sponsorship from Health Net Federal Services (HNFS).  The contribution from HNFS is the largest financial home sponsorship donation from a single donor in Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s 32 year history and will be Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento’s first ever Veteran home build from the ground up.

The Wirth family will put in 500 hours of sweat equity and work alongside volunteers from Health Net Federal Services and the community to build their home.  At the completion of construction, they will purchase the home from Habitat for a 0% interest, 30-year mortgage.  Construction on their home will begin this Spring.
