Wells Fargo teams up with Habitat for Humanity by providing $100,000 in matching funds for Habitat’s “Home for the Holidays” giving campaign

The campaign kicks off Giving Tuesday with a goal of raising $200,000 to support Habitat’s ongoing construction efforts, more home repairs for low-income families, seniors, and veterans, and breaking ground on the highly anticipated Cornerstone Development.

Sacramento, CA – Starting on Giving Tuesday, from November 30 through December 31, Wells Fargo will match every dollar donated to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento through a $100,000 matching funds commitment to the local Habitat for Humanity “Home for the Holidays” campaign.

Habitat hopes to raise $100,000 through community donations which, coupled with the dollar-for-dollar Wells Fargo matching funds, would raise $200,000 in operational funding to support critical efforts like continued construction on Habitat’s 13-home Mandolin Estates project, increasing home repairs for low-income homeowners (primarily seniors and veterans), and breaking ground on phase 1 of Habitat’s highly anticipated Cornerstone Development – a collaborative development between Habitat and Mutual Housing that will provide affordable housing to over 400 low-income individuals.

“Wells Fargo is deeply committed to creating housing affordability solutions where everyone can have a safe and affordable place to call home,” says Kevin Barri, Northern Golden State regional bank president, Wells Fargo. “Unfortunately, Sacramento has topped the list of the least affordable new home markets in the country so our support to increase the affordable housing supply with Habitat for Humanity is critical.”

This year Humanity of Greater Sacramento received over 7,000 pre-applications from families for 12 available Habitat homes and an additional 1,000 inquiries from low-income families, seniors, and veterans for home repair services to support aging in place and anti-displacement.

“We need only look outside to see the human devastation of the housing crisis in our community,” says Habitat for Humanity of Greater Sacramento president and CEO Leah Miller. “We are grateful to Wells Fargo for its generous partnership with the #HabitatHomefortheHolidays campaign as it takes a community to build a community and it will take all of us, working together, to build the critically needed equity building and affordable housing solutions our region so greatly needs. Thanks to Wells Fargo, when someone makes a donation to Habitat this holiday season, the impact will go even further.”
